Lilly Ledbetter is one courageous fighter. She was at the center of that historic discrimination case that inspired the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act , the first official piece of legislation that President Obama signed into law in 2009.

“You should expect and get a good day’s pay for a good day’s work.” Lilly Ledbetter

Lilly has just written her memoir, “Grace and Grit, My Fight for Equal Pay and Fairness at Goodyear and Beyond.” The book is the bold story of her journey fighting for pay equity that took her from Possum Trot, Alabama all the way to the Supreme Court and The White House.

We are so pleased that Stacey Gualandi was able to interview Lilly on The Women’s Eye Radio Show recently. Here’s an excerpt from her talk with this amazing advocate for fair pay… Continue reading

All things fascinating, beautiful, and wondrous are discussed on Dominique Browning’s blog Slow Love Life.  We follow it religiously here at TWE, wondering what special photos and subject matter Dominique will turn up next.

She is a well-respected writer and was Editor-in-Chief of one of our favorite magazines, House & Garden.  Unfortunately, it ceased publication overnight in 2007, and she lost her job.

“The idea of Slow Love is just taking and giving ourselves permission to take a little time every day to feed our soul.”    Dominique Browning

Dominique decided to write all about it in a very candid and amusing book called Slow Love: How I Lost My Job Put On My Pajamas and Found Happiness .  We couldn’t wait to talk to her about her concept of Slow Love and her new project, Moms Clean Air Force.

Here are is an excerpt from Stacey Gualandi’s radio interview with Dominique along with some inspiring photos from her blog…   Continue reading

Interview: Tiger Mom Author Amy Chua One Year After The Uproar

A year ago, Amy Chua’s controversial memoir, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, ignited a firestorm when she dared to tackle the subject of raising a family.  This Yale law professor has been called mother-of-the-year by some and vilified by others.

“It’s just about believing in your children and teaching them that they are capable of so much more than they think…”    Amy Chua

Many moms believed that the book implied that Chinese mothers were superior to American mothers.  Well, you’d think she’d started World War III.  I’m exaggerating, but Amy did touch on a very big nerve.  Now her controversial book is available in paperback.  Recently, I was delighted to talk to Amy on “The Women’s Eye Radio Show” to find out if, a year later,  the dust has settled.  Here’s an excerpt of that interview…    Continue reading
